Samantha Gordon Joins TechEquity
We at TechEquity are delighted to announce that Samantha Gordon is joining us as our new Senior Vice President of Advocacy & Organizing!
As SVP of Advocacy & Organizing, Gordon will expand our base of tech workers and deepen their engagement in our efforts to ensure that all Californians have access to economic mobility, housing, and equitable employment. She’ll be playing a key role in our leadership team, bringing our organization to the next level in growth, strategy, and overall health.
TechEquity is at a growth point where we require another leader to strengthen both our community and advocacy—someone with hands-on experience and a birds-eye strategy. Samantha is absolutely that person, and we can’t wait for her to join our remarkable team.

About Samantha
Samantha Gordon is an experienced leader in the space of workers’ rights and social justice. She served for over twelve years with the two-million-member Service Employees International Union (SEIU); most recently as Division Executive Director for SEIU Local 1000, which represents 96,000 state workers across California.
In her time at SEIU, she helped lead a national organizational change initiative to shift campaign and program leadership to worker leaders. Samantha trained and developed SEIU local union chapters on political education and small-donor fundraising, helping SEIU become one of the largest political action committees in the U.S. prior to Citizens United. In addition, she played leadership roles for SEIU in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections in Arizona and Florida, respectively.
Samantha moved from SEIU’s national organization to its largest public-sector local union chapter, SEIU Local 1000, to drive a culture-change initiative across its statewide organizing program. She served as a key advisor to elected leadership and other senior staff on member engagement and organizing. Ultimately, Samantha directed three major program areas of the union: organizing, politics, and communications.
Samantha’s greatest joy is spending time with her daughter, Opal, and husband, Brady, at their home in Sacramento, California.
