What is TechEquity?

There is a digital equity crisis in the East Bay and students from under-resourced neighborhoods, often Black or Latino, suffer the most from the resulting opportunity divide. TechEquity is the bridge across the digital divide. We can help make it easier to cross by providing free or cheap internet and computers, mentorship and internship opportunities and education programs to those who need it.

TechEquity addresses the lack of diversity in tech, and will offer a much-needed diverse talent pipeline for businesses in the East Bay.

There are plenty of ways to get involved and there's no time like now to start.

We're an open source community

We're putting together a TechEquity Blueprint and a Charter to encourage East Bay employers to hire from their local community, to meet fair diveristy standards, to spend and contract locally, and to offer mentorship and volunteer opportunities.

It's all open source. If you have something to contribute, join the community and send us a pull request. We'd love your help.

Who are we?

We're a collective of folks from technology companies, technology education organizations and local community organizations. We live and/or work in the East Bay, we love the East Bay, and we don't want the East Bay to lose its soul.

What brings us together is the mission of building an inclusive, representative and community-oriented tech ecosystem in the East Bay. We advocate for sustainable, equitable growth in the East Bay and for policies that prevent displacement.
