VIDEO: Former contract worker AnaStacia tells her story
AnaStacia Wright was a contract worker at a large tech company. This is her story.
While the tech industry touts increasing diversity, the truth is more complicated. Much of tech’s diversity lies in its contract workforce, which is disproportionately Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, women, and nonbinary people. Contract workers are often paid less, given little to no opportunity to advance, and kept distant from their directly hired co-workers.
It all adds up to a clear issue: occupational segregation. Former contract worker AnaStacia Wright is very familiar with this structure—and its consequences.
