AI, Equity, and a People-First Policy Approach

Join us on Friday, March 15th at 12pm PT to discuss a people-first policy approach to AI and equity in Sacramento, CA.

The emergence of generative AI has captured the attention of people around the world. ChatGPT and other large language models excited and energized millions of people—and created a sense of fear for others. But in some critical aspects of our lives, technology has already proliferated and taken the place of humans—at times with devastating effects. Automated decision-making systems, predictive algorithms, and many other emergent technologies are determining who can live where, whether we have safe, stable employment, who interacts with law enforcement, and whether one can gain access to credit and other financial resources. 

To create a future where technology is beneficial to all of us, we come together to:

  • Understand AI and emerging technology’s impact on people and our communities
  • Discuss guardrails that help ensure that emerging technologies do not accelerate harm and inequity, and
  • Socialize an affirmative people-first vision of technology.
