On January 30th, TechEquity Collaborative is hosting a panel discussion on Tech and Homelessness in the city, followed by an audience Q&A.
Walking down the streets of San Francisco makes it impossible to ignore our affordability crisis. At the base of glass towers and thriving businesses, thousands of our neighbors live unhoused and on the street. It’s clear that our city is inequitable, and we all need to step up to fix it.
It’s easy to blame tech as the sole reason why so many SF residents are unhoused, but that paints an incomplete picture of the problem. Our housing crisis is decades in the making; while tech didn’t start it, we have a responsibility to be part of the solution. Recently, tech workers and tech companies have begun to join the fight, such as Salesforce and rank-and-file workers supporting the Our City Our Home (Prop C) initiative in San Francisco.
Tech companies and tech workers have the potential to join with community organizations and make huge strides such that everyone in San Francisco and the Bay Area can have a roof over their head. Join us for a discussion with city and community representatives about how tech currently relates to our homelessness crisis, how tech companies can pitch in, and how everyday tech workers can help.

- Jennifer Friedenbach, Executive Director of the Coalition on Homelessness
- Dr. Kenneth Kim, Interim Senior Director of Programs of GLIDE
